The LE88276DLC is a bridging, digital subscriber line (xDSL) line interface controller (LIC) optimized for Local Loop (LL) and Internet Protocol (IP) applications. It helps enable service providers to offer the highest data services and quality of service (QoS) over existing copper lines.
The LE88276DLC integrates all of the line signal processing algorithms, line driver, line receiver and host control interface functions required for an xDSL subscriber line in a single-chip solution. This chip is intended for use in xDSL gateway, xDSL access multiplexer (DSLAM) or xDSL residential gateways. Its applications include xDSL Local Loop, VDSL, ADSL2/2+, ADSL2, SHDSL.bis, SDSL, and VDSL2.
The LE88276DLC chip also includes proprietary xDSL Link Quality Management (xLQM) algorithms, which measure and recommend the best data rate setting, allowing the user to better match transmission performance to different line conditions. In addition, an Enhanced Quasi Error Free (EQEF) equalization algorithm helps reduce echo noise, allowing a more reliable connection.
The LE88276DLC chip is integrated on an industry-standard 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi to Ethernet Broadband Extender (WEBBEX). This device utilizes the 802.11 wireless access point/bridge/client technology to create wireless connectivity over a medium-to-large area, to multiple users/devices in distant locations. The WEBBEX acts as an 802.11 access point or bridge ( router or bridge ), and it also incorporates the LE88276DLC chip for DSL service.
The LE88276DLC consists of three main components: a Glue Logic, Digital Signal Processor (DSP) and Line Interface Unit (LIU). The Glue Logic is responsible for communication between the chip and the host device, as well as controlling the other two components. The DSP performs the signal processing tasks, such as PHY layer functions, equalization, echo cancellation, and framer. The LIU is the physical interface between the chip and the copper line, it converts analog signals to digital and vice versa.
The LE88276DLC chip supports all of the major line coding schemes, such as G.994.1 (G.hs) and G.992.1 (G.dmt). It also supports the following line conditions: vectoring, interleaving and trellis, allowing greater throughput over longer distances than other bridging chips. In addition, the chip is designed to meet stringent noise and interference requirements, ensuring a reliable connection.
The LE88276DLC chip is also integrated into an Ethernet-to-Ethernet Broadband Extender (EEBBEX). The EEBBEX acts as an Ethernet bridge, enabling Ethernet connectivity between Ethernet networks over a medium-to-large area. The EEBBEX is designed to connect remote locations to a central Ethernet port, extending the reach of the LAN. The LE88276DLC chip is used to manage the line signal and interface with the central Ethernet port, providing a reliable connection.
