Working Principle

The LF90CPT is designed to provide a high accuracy, low-power and low output voltage capability and to efficiently convert an input voltage to an output voltage. The IC uses a current mode or voltage mode control to enable the device to adjust its output voltage accurately over a wide range of inputs.The current mode control circuit of the LF90CPT uses a synchronous buck or boost converter that operates at a fixed frequency or variable frequency. The current mode control circuit is designed to work with an external voltage reference, either a reference voltage from the power supply or an external voltage reference IC.The voltage mode control circuit of the LF90CPT is designed to regulate the output voltage by means of an error amplifier, which compares the output voltage to a set reference voltage.
