Working Principle
The LIS3DHHTR accelerometer uses MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical systems) technology to measure and analyse the accelerations and vibrations experienced by a body. It does this by monitoring the time-dependent changes in the body’s relative position with respect to its environment. The accelerometer consists of two main components: the sensing element and the sensor interface.
The sensing element of the LIS3DHHTR is a tiny MEMS structure composed of a mass mounted on springs. When the body to which it is attached experiences acceleration, the mass is displaced along one or more of its three orthogonal axes, creating a voltage difference between the two sides of the sensing element. This voltage difference is detected by the sensor interface of the accelerometer, which then translates it into a measurable acceleration value.
The LIS3DHHTR accelerometer can provide up to 16-bit resolution for each of its three axes, with a detection range of ±2g, ±4g and ±8g. It has a high resolution of up to 0.00336mg which ensures accurate measurement of even small accelerations. Additionally, the accelerometer can be used in both temperature and humidity environments without any significant impact on its measurement accuracy.
