The LM2678S-3.3/NOPB is a DC-DC switching regulator with an integrated N-Channel, over-temperature-protected power MOSFET. It is designed to generate 3.3V outputs at currents up to 2A.

Working Principle

The LM2678S-3.3/NOPB works on the principle of Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM). In this type of regulator, the output voltage is essentially proportional to the duty cycle of the PWM signal, which is gradually adjusted in order to regulate the output voltage. In addition to the usual feedback loop, the LM2678S includes several features to improve the performance of the regulator. These include:

• Zero-Cross Circuitry – The Zero-Cross Circuitry allows the LM2678 to smoothly transition from the ON state to the OFF state, eliminating the overshoot normally seen when switching from one state to another. This helps to reduce output voltage ripple and provide more precise voltage regulation.
• Decoupling Capacitors – The use of decoupling capacitors helps to provide smoother transitions from the ON state to the OFF state as well as reduce output voltage ripple.
• Current Limiter – The current limiter helps to prevent overcurrent conditions in the event of a short circuit or an overloaded output. This helps to protect the device, as well as the connected load.
• TTL Shutdown Logic Control - This feature allows the device to be turned on or off remotely, either through a logic signal or a voltage signal.
