The LM2735YSDEVAL is a comprehensive evaluation package designed to evaluate the features and performance of the Texas Instruments LM2735 isolated flyback dc/dc controller. The evaluation board provides a complete hardware solution that allows the design engineer to quickly evaluate the performance of the LM2735 and measure all of the characteristic parameters, such as output voltage ripple, power factor, line frequency and load transient response, in a wide variety of applications. This evaluation platform is suitable for both novice and experienced engineers and provides maximum flexibility in experimenting with changes in the converter design.The LM2735 application field is ideally suited for offline isolated power supplies in medical, communications, industrial and consumer applications. It is designed to drive an isolated flyback topology with an input voltage range of 14 V to 40 V and an output voltage range of 1 V to 65 V. The input allows for either a fixed or variable Off-Line AC input voltage and features a wide range of features that allow designers to optimize their design for efficiency, minimum component count and footprint and overall power solution size. The device also offers a number of safety features such as Selectable Soft Start (SSS) to limit inrush current during power up transitions. The LM2735 features a voltage mode topology for improved load step response and reduces component count and size devices.The working principle of the device begins with a variable Off-Line AC input voltage converted to a fixed DC voltage by an active input stage with series pass PWM control. The output stage uses a controller-based flyback topology with an integrated 950 V MOSFET to regulate the output voltage of the circuit. The voltage mode control of the LM2735 is ideal for maintaining the voltage regulation loop stability for the static and dynamic load demands. The variable frequency can be set by increasing/decreasing the ON time of the pulse-width modulation (PWM) signal. The LM2735 also features skip cycle operation (SCO) which can be used to reduce switching losses and improve efficiency at light loads.The LM2735 end-application solutions are easy to design and can be optimized to meet the demand of the most challenging design requirements. With a comprehensive set of protection and monitoring features, the end-application system is ensured to operate at peak efficiency and improve system reliability.
