This device integrates an oscillator, high-side and low-side MOSFET drivers, frequency jittering, programmable soft-start, undervoltage, overvoltage, short- and overcurrent protection, UVLOD/LDRV sensing as well as a power OK and fault output. The controller operates in either continuous or discontinuous conduction mode and its target operating frequency is set by an external resistor.The operating principle of the LM2743MTC/NOPB is based on the constant on-time control scheme. The input voltage is compared to a reference voltage, which is then used to control the duty cycle of the output-to-input switching stage. The device limits peak inductor current to a safe level and also includes a programmable soft-start to limit in-rush current during startup. The output voltage is programmed with an external resistor divider.The LM2743MTC/NOPB offers several protection features including input undervoltage, output overvoltage, cycle-by-cycle current limiting and short-circuit protection along with a power OK output. It also includes a unique fault protection with external sensed UVLOD/LDRV pin to detect a discharge voltage or an overvoltage situation. Additionally, an optional internal overvoltage clamp is programmable with an external resistor.The LM2743MTC/NOPB is available in an 8-pin SOIC package and is designed to operate over an extended temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
