The LM3405AEVAL/NOPB is an evaluation board designed to evaluate the features of the LM3405A low-side high-brightness LED driver. It is designed to drive the LEDs from a maximum of 32V into 1W or 2W LED array.

Application Field

Working Principle

The LM3405AEVAL/NOPB is designed to drive a maximum of 32V into 1W or 2W LED array. The working principle is simple, the input voltage is first regulated by an adjustable regulator, then the output voltage is fed to the LM3405A to drive the LED array. The LM3405A then operates in a constant current mode to control the LED current. The adjustable resistor is used to adjust the LED current.

The protection circuitry provided in the board ensures protection against open LED circuits, LED reverse bias, and LED over-load. It consists of two voltage sensing diodes, a transistor, a current sensing resistor and a voltage regulator. The voltage sensing diodes detect any reverse voltage in the output and activate the transistor which in turn switches off the LED array. The current sensing resistor monitors the LED current, if the current limit is exceed, the voltage regulator disconnects the output.
