The LM3430EVAL/NOPB is an Evaluation Board, classified as an Off-Line DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS. The board is designed to introduce users to general principles behind the control of high efficient, Off-Line, dc/dc converters with an emphasis on dynamic response. It is an excellent starting point for developing a production device because it eliminates the need to duplicate the basic circuit design.

The LM3430EVAL/NOPB board provides two operating levels of a high energy-efficient, Off-Line Flyback converter using the LM3430 boost PWM controller IC. It operates at either 230VAC or 110V AC input and provides up to 36W output power. When designing a mains-powered circuit, proper safety should be taken to protect the user and the circuit. The EVAL/NOPB board was designed to adhere to design guidelines and safety regulations in the appropriate standards. It includes a mains-rated fuse and other protection components that meet the standards for safety.

The device is also capable of driving voltage-mode synchronous rectification.

These features include; an on-board LED that displays power-on status, a loop monitor LED to help identify a complete control loop, a signal monitor LED which blinks to indicate activity, a standby LED which glows when the controller is in standby mode, and a fault LED which indicates the fault state. The EVAL/NOPB board also includes a reset switch and a select switch for cycling through the available modes.
