Working PrincipleThe LM3431EVAL/NOPB evaluation board consists of a buck-boost LED driver and a voltage regulator. The voltage regulator is used to provide a variable supply input voltage ranging from 2.5 V to 20 V. The regulator output is split into two rails, an upper and lower rail, which are then connected to the LM3431 buck-boost LED driver.The LM3431 buck-boost LED driver is a current mode step-down / step-up device. It adjusts the output current dynamically according to the input voltage and the selected LED string’s forward voltage drop. The LM3431 buck-boost LED driver uses a non-synchronous constant frequency current mode control to provide the best LED regulation and efficiency.
