The LM3447-A19-230VEVM is an evaluation module designed for applications using LED drivers based on the Linear Technology LM3447 boost LED driver. The LM3447-A19-230VEVM provides a comprehensive platform to evaluate LED lighting solutions that leverage the LM3447. The evaluation module is designed to facilitate evaluation of the LM3447\'s performance capabilities and its various use cases such as driving high power LED strings, setting up complex dimming and flashing algorithms, etc.
The LM3447 is a boost LED driver with an integrated high side current sense resistor and a wide input voltage range of 8V to 28V. The device has the capability to drive up to 8 strings of LEDs with a peak LED current accuracy of ±10% over the entire temperature range. The device has dimming capabilities with selectable dimming modes such as pulse modulation, analog dimming, etc. The LM3447 also includes protection features like input UVLO, LED open and short protection, over temperature protection, etc.
The LM3447-A19-230VEVM comes with a verified evaluation board design and a compatible demo code which helps to quickly evaluate the LM3447\'s capabilities. The demo code allows the evaluation of the device performance in different operating modes such as PWM dimming, analog dimming, etc. and also provides a platform for implementing dimming and flashing algorithms for applications. The evaluation hardware is designed to use an 8 pin DIP configuration for ease of use.
The evaluation board has four sets of jumpers to select the various operating parameters of the device. Three sets of jumpers are used to configure the dimming configuration of the device such as selecting between PWM and analog dimming, setting up the dimming range, etc. The fourth set of jumpers is used to configure the IC\'s behavior in the case of an LED short or open circuit condition.
The LM3447-A19-230VEVM evaluation board includes a power supply and a current sense resistor with an accuracy of ±5% that helps accurately monitor the LED current. The evaluation board can be used with a wide input voltage range of 8V to 28V and can provide an output power up to 220W.
The LM3447-A19-230VEVM evaluation board also includes a controller board designed to communicate with the main evaluation board. The controller board comprises of a properly marked standard micro-USB connector and four push buttons. These buttons can be used to select different operating modes and also to configure the LED’s intensity or flashing rate, as required by the user.
