The LM3485EVAL evaluation board is a complete, compact, low-cost, and easy-to-use platform for power supply applications. The board features a switch-mode power supply (SMPS) that offers high-efficiency low-noise power and supports a wide range of input and output voltages. The board is ideal for developing and evaluating a wide range of applications, from low-cost general-purpose switching regulators to high-end industrial applications.

The LM3485EVAL application field and working principle can be divided into two categories: DC/DC converters and AC/DC (off-line) SMPS. DC/DC converters are commonly used to convert a DC voltage from one level to another. Typically, they are used to step up or step down the input voltage to the required output level. Commonly used applications of DC/DC converters include LED lighting, battery charging, and powering computing and consumer electronics devices. It is a synchronous type of converter which switches on and off with a frequency controlled by an external oscillator. The thermal protection is enabled when the temperature of the device goes beyond the set temperature threshold.
