Working Principle
The LM34919TLX/NOPB is an all-in-one DC/DC buck-boost synchronous converter. The device has two Buck and Boost regulators, each with independent, adjustable output voltages. The regulators are designed to automatically switch between buck and boost modes as needed, allowing them to produce outputs of either higher or lower voltages than the input voltage. The LM34919TLX/NOPB also features spread-spectrum EMI performance, reducing EMI emissions for adjacent sensitive components.
The LM34919TLX/NOPB contains two Power Fet MOSFETs that regulate the input and output voltages, as well as a high-side and low-side current-sense amplifier. The device’s control logic determines when and how to switch the MOSFETs depending on the input and output voltages. Depending on the output voltage, the buck or boost regulator is used. When the output voltage is lower than the input voltage, the buck regulator is used; when the output voltage is higher than the input voltage, the boost regulator is used.
The LM34919TLX/NOPB also features an adaptive frequency control loop which increases or decreases the switching frequency to reduce output ripple, as well as a current-mode control algorithm to accurately control the output current of the converters. Additionally, the device is designed to protect against over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current, and short-circuit conditions by shutting off the output MOSFETs when these occur.
