The LM34923MMX/NOPB is a monolithic, high efficiency, non-synchronous 2A PMIC Converter designed for mobile or handheld applications. It is a member of the LM34926, LM34672 and LM34927 series, which are pin and functionality compatible, but with different voltage levels, quiescent currents and package sizes. It supports all standard synchronous, non-synchronous and combined synchronization modes.

Application Field and Working Principle

The LM34923MMX/NOPB is a DC-DC switching regulator typically used in mobile and handheld devices. It utilizes an integrated high-efficiency MOSFET to regulate and convert an input voltage to a regulated output voltage. The regulator can reduce the input voltage to as low as 1.2V and deliver an output voltage up to 5.5V. The integrated MOSFET eliminates the need for an external switching element, allowing for a smaller and more efficient solution. In addition, the regulator provides cycle-by-cycle current limiting and short circuit protection.

The regulator is designed to have excellent line and load regulation characteristics, providing excellent stability and accuracy in regulating output voltage over a wide input voltage range. The input voltage range can be set by the external resistor divider connected to the RT/CT pin.

The LM34923MMX/NOPB supports a wide range of input voltages, from 0.7V to 10V, and a wide range of output voltages, from 0.8V to 5.5V. The ripple rejection is typically 90dB. The switching frequency can be adjusted using an external capacitor. The switching frequency can be set by changing the value of the capacitor, or it can be synchronized to an external clock signal. The internal oscillator can operate in either synchronous or non-synchronous mode.

The soft start ensures that the output voltage is slowly ramped up to minimize the inrush current and minimize any potential damage due to surge currents.
