LM341T-15 is part of a family of monolithic voltage regulators specifically designed to provide linear and accurate outputs for applications with wide input-voltage range. Application Field
LM341T-15 provides tightly regulated output voltage. It has outputs ranging from −1.25V to −20V and is designed to reduce output voltage ripple and allow easier design, while providing improved device reliability. It is ideal for use in communication equipment, ATE, VTR/AVR, Instrumentation and other high-reliability systems. It is specifically designed to provide the user with noise-free outputs in applications where wide input voltage range is necessary.
The LM341T-15 has selectable outputs, eliminating the need to pay for components with different output voltages. It is especially suitable for regulated power supplies and regulated battery-charging circuits. The output voltage are traceable to achieved by adjusting the slider or front end resistors.
Working Principle
LM341T-15’s main operational action is to maintain a constant output voltage in a feedback mode by controlling the amount of current flow. It is a linear regulator and use a bipolar transistor, optocoupler, temperature stable current source and other components to achieve a regulator output that is stable even when input voltage is varied over wide supply voltage range.
This regulator uses the same type of feedback as a linear regulator and consists of an internal error amplifier. A feedback loop senses the regulator output voltage and adjusts the current to the power transistor to keep the output voltage constant, even if the load varies from 0 to the maximum current rating or if the input voltage varies. Current Sense Resistor is put between the input terminal and the error amplifier, for the purpose to sense the regulator output voltage.
When power flows to the regulator, an error amplifier compares the output voltage to a reference voltage. If any changes occur, the amplifier amplifies the difference, and then it will send an error signal to the Power Transistor Gate. This causes changes in output current and the output voltage will level off again.
