Application field and working principle
The LM34919BQTL/NOPB is a suitable solution for any application from industrial to aerospace needing a robust, reliable power supply. The device has an efficient fixed-frequency voltage mode current-mode control topology with an integrated low-side MOSFET driver. It can operate from a wide input voltage range and convert it into a 5V or adjustable output voltage with excellent efficiency. The device’s operating frequency can be programmed to one of three frequency bands, allowing it to be used in a range of applications with different frequency requirements.
The control block of the device contains the current mode error amplifier, voltage loop compensation and the external softstart inputs. The internal error amplifier is used to track the output voltage and the error amplifier output is then fed to the external PWM comparator. The external PWM comparator compares the error amplifier voltage with the external sawtooth signal and when the error amplifier voltage is higher than the sawtooth signal, signals the external driver to turn on the power MOSFET and start the power conversion. The external soft-start inputs are used to control the startup time of the converter and the time it takes for the converter to reach its steady-state operation.
The LM34919BQTL/NOPB also includes a thermal monitoring circuit that is connected directly to the power stage MOSFETs. The thermal sensing circuit allows the device to limit the amount of power dissipated by the internal MOSFETs when they become too hot.
