The LM3743MM- 1000/NOPB DC-DC switching controller is an integrated regulator solution for configuring DC-DC supplies with either Boost, Buck or Buck-Boost topologies. It is compliant with the Low Voltage Switching controllers requirement of the Texas Instruments’ variable input voltage configurable power structure (CPS).

The LM3743MM-1000/NOPB offers features that help designers create efficient solutions. These features include a wide operating voltage range, low start up current, low quiescent current, fast response, low noise and adaptable frequency control. Additionally, it has over-voltage and over-current protection circuitry to help ensure the system is safe and efficient in case of faults.

The LM3743MM-1000/NOPB supports either buck, boost, or buck-boost topologies, with a maximum input voltage of 36V and switching frequencies up to 1MHz. The device is available in a space saving 8-pin SOIC package and has a 5V/100mA low drop-out regulator as well as a bootstrap diode with a temperature compensation feature.

Pulse- Skip mode works in the same way, except that the device will occasionally stop the PWM signal and the inductor current will be reduced, thereby reducing the load power consumed by the system. The user can also adjust the frequency by setting an external resistor at the RT pin. However, in PWM and Pulse-Skip mode, the operating range is small, typically between 20KHz to 110KHz.
