The LM43601PWPEVM evaluation module (EVM) is a high performance, full featured development board from National Semiconductor which can be used to quickly evaluate the LM43601, a high-efficiency wide VIN synchronous buck controller. The LM43601PWPEVM was designed to quickly evaluate the LM43601 and quickly evaluate the implementation of offline AC/DC and DC/DC SMPS designs. The EVM board can easily be configured and adjusted to evaluate a range of applications while providing a rich assortment of real-world performance data.

The LM43601PWPEVM is powered by a full-scale Current-Mode controlled two-phase buck voltage regulator, with an input voltage of 15-75 V and outputs ranging from 0.5 V up to 8.0 V. The EVM’s integrated high-side / low-side MOSFET drivers provide a compatible source of power for a wide range of topologies including dual-phase, interleaved, and multi-phase systems. The voltage control loop response time can be adjusted through an onboard trimpot, allowing rapid evaluation of tradeoffs between transient response and output-ripple performance.

The LM43601PWPEVM evaluation module provides a comprehensive set of features which facilitate quick evaluation of the LM43601 in a wide range of offline AC/DC and DC/DC SMPS applications. Built-in diagnostics monitor the state and performance of the load, supply voltage, power stages, output voltage, and any available third-party testing instrument. An integrated analog multiplexer is used to easily switch between different load conditions, while the integrated analog-to-digital converter (ADC) makes it easy to check the status of the output voltage and current. To further extend the evaluation capabilities, the EVM features four additional external test points for current sensing and two external potentiometers for setting load line and soft-start.
