The LM43602DSUT is a dual synchronous DC-DC switching regulator, grown out of Texas Instruments’ Powerstage family. It is intended to provide power conversion in today’s demanding and fast-paced industrial systems, where performance and availability are paramount. It features an efficient, robust design and low standby current. This makes it ideal for a wide range of applications in embedded, industrial and communications markets, with the ability to adjust step-down and step-up output voltage configurations.
This integrated solution is intended to facilitate the design of high efficiency, very low EMI, power-over-Ethernet (PoE) systems, providing dual isolated inputs and ultra-low dropout operation. Operating over an input voltage range of 4.5V to 15V, and output voltages of 1.8V to 18V, this integrated device makes a great substitute for discrete power supplies, needing fewer components and less board space. It is capable of delivering 24W of power into a 2-phase paralleled buck configuration and 18W into a 2-phase paralleled boost configuration. Ultimately, it simplifies the design process, allowing engineers to concentrate on other aspects of the design.
Working Principle
The LM43602DSUT synchronous DC-DC switching regulator employs two stages of conversion of voltage from the input to the output in its design. During the first stage, the regulator is a buck converter, meaning it takes in the power at one voltage level and reduces it to a lower level to produce the required output voltage setpoint. During the second stage, the regulator uses a boost converter to increase the power from the input voltage at the setpoint to the output voltage. A buck-boost converter is also available with the LM43602DSUT, which is a switching regulator that can step down or step up the voltage as required.
