The power a circuit dissipates is the sum of all its static power and the active power delivered by the circuits it provides to do useful work. Working Principle
At the heart of the LM94CIMT/NOPB module is an industry-standard independent thermal diode, which measures the temperature rise of the enclosed assembly and serves as the temperature sensor. The temperature rise is then fed back into the LM94CIMT/NOPB\'s thermal control loop. When the temperature exceeds a predefined set point, the LM94CIMT/NOPB sends a signal to a system or programmable logic controller (PLC) that reduces the output power to the system, thereby maintaining a desirable temperature. As soon as the temperature falls back to the set point, the full output power can be restored. The LM94CIMT/NOPB also has an integrated watchdog which transitions from an idle state when no dangerous temperatures have been detected, to an active state if it detected dangerous temperature, this providing tangible protection from thermal overloads.
The LM94CIMT/NOPB can be combined with a fan, heat sink or any other thermal management device to maintain optimal system performance.When used with a fan, it helps ensure a safe start up experience and adds a margin of safety when the cooling fan is disabled due to a system malfunction.
