The LM94022BIMGX is a temperature sensor designed specifically for the automotive industry. The LM94022BIMGX offers two different output types: analog and digital. The analog output provides a linearized output signal ranging from 0°C to 255°C with 0.5°C resolution. The LM94022BIMGX includes two signal-conditioning ports which allow it to be connected directly to a host microprocessor or other electronic system such as a data logger. The first signal-conditioning port is used to detect the supply voltage for the LM94022BIMGX and it can be configured for either single-ended or differential input. The second signal-conditioning port is used for the programming of the LM94022BIMGX and it can be configured for either a parallel or serial interface.
The internal architecture of the LM94022BIMGX includes a two stage analog signal path, which includes an integrated thermistor, current to voltage converters, an analog to digital converter and a temperature algorithm engine. The thermistor is used to measure the temperature and is connected to the die via the current to voltage converters. The input signal from the thermistor is then converted into a digital signal using the onboard analog to digital converter. The digital signal is then used by the temperature algorithm engine to generate an output signal that is either an analog voltage or a digital word depending on the application requirements.
