It is specially designed to provide excellent power conversion performance while at the same time being able to remain power efficient and protect sensitive electronics against input voltage spikes and transient voltages. The LMR10515YSDX/NOPB is part of the TI family of high efficiency switch mode voltage regulators (SMVRs).ApplicationThe LMR10515YSDX/NOPB is an excellent choice for a wide range of applications. It can be used in communications systems, consumer electronics, smart phones and tablets, networking, storage devices, automotive and industrial, firewall and security devices as well as a number of industrial and/or medical applications. It can function as a voltage regulation circuit to provide a stable output voltage regardless of the load or input voltage changes.Working PrincipleThe LMR10515YSDX/NOPB is a type of switch mode voltage regulator (SMVR) that uses a set of interconnected transistors and an inductor to convert AC input voltage into the necessary DC output voltage. First, the control circuit sets up the biasing levels in the switches and then the integrated pulse-width-modulation (PWM) logic is used to regulate the switching frequency and time. When a low-side MOSFET is activated, current flows through the inductor and is stored in it. Then, when the high-side MOSFET is activated, the current stored in the inductor is released and it flows through the inductor in the opposite direction from the original. This is how it converts the high voltage AC into the necessary DC voltage. Finally, the control circuit will monitor and balance the voltage and current levels, thereby allowing for a stable output voltage even during changes in input voltage or load conditions.Advantages of SMVRsCompared to linear voltage regulators, SMVRs offer a number of advantages. First, they offer high efficiency, often up to 97%, meaning less energy is lost in the form of heat. Second, they can provide a much more stable output voltage regardless of input voltage fluctuations or load changes and are better suited to one or two-cell battery applications.
