The LMR12010YMK/NOPB is a synchronous monolithic step-down power converter module. It takes an input voltage of up to 32V, and provides up to 80% efficiency while delivering an output current of 2A. The module integrates high-side and low-side MOSFETs enabling high efficiency switching. Options are available allowing the output voltage to be adjustable. The LMRl2010YMK/NOPB is part of Texas Instruments\' Power Management IC (PMIC) portfolio, and sits within the Voltage Regulators - DC DC Switching Regulators subcategory.
The module enables high level current regulation, low output ripple and low noise operation making it an ideal power supply solution for embedded processor and FPGA devices. It is suitable for use in a variety of applications including converters for automotive, commercial, industrial and military systems.
The LMR12010YMK/NOPB operates from 1.2V to 32 V input and can be configured in a wide range of synchronous buck configurations, inline buck/boost and buck/boost configurations. It is highly efficient and easily programmable, allowing current, output voltages and load transients to be managed with minimal external components. With the capability to switch at 5.5MHz, it can reduce the external passive components size and therefore optimize the size and cost of the circuit design.
The module features between 4% and 5% output accuracy over temperature to maintain the accuracy of the output voltage regulation over the device lifetime. It includes a range of features to protect the load and power module, including overvoltage, and undervoltage protection, as well as over-temperature shutdown.
The LMR12010YMK/NOPB operates in a variety of modes depending on the selected voltage, current and temperature levels, including Burst Mode operation, which operates at very low quiescent current levels. During light-load conditions, the module reduces the switching frequency and regulator efficiency, dropping the output voltage to a defined level (usually less than 1V). In this mode, the module’s quiescent current is reduced and the system power is optimised.
The LMR12010YMK/NOPB comprises an internal PWM controller, where both the peak current control and the modulated on-time ensure robust control of the current and output voltage for high efficiency and fast transient responses. The device also incorporates integrated gate drivers to drive the internal MOSFETs and can be configured for a variety of inputs.
The use of a single-stage power supply design reduces part count and overall costs, with a result of small volume, fast transient performance and extremely high efficiency due to its synchronous MOSFET power-stage. The LMR12010YMK/NOPB can be used in a wide range of DC DC switching regulator applications, with a wide input voltage range and excellent load regulation.
