The LMV331ICT is a comparator used to accurately compare two voltage inputs, often referred to as a Voltage Comparator. The comparator is a low power and low noise linear integrated circuit with an operating voltage of 3.0V to 18V. It contains an internal voltage reference and two comparators with open-drain outputs.
The LMV331ICT can be used to accurately measure signals in many application fields, such as automotive, portable devices and industrial control applications. It can be used to detect any voltage changes in a given circuit, compare two supply voltages, compare a voltage to a reference voltage, detect temperature fluctuations, measure frequency and pulse width, detect current changes and for AC waveforms. It is often used for applications like automotive switch detection, switching voltage regulation, adjustable voltage regulation and opening/closing deviation feedback.
The LMV331ICT comparator works by comparing two input voltages, or a reference voltage and an input voltage. The two voltage inputs are applied to pins 3 and 2, respectively. When the voltage at pin 3 becomes larger than pin 2, the output of pin 4 is set high. When the voltage at pin 2 is greater than pin 3, the output of pin 1 is set to low. This action is known as hysteresis and ensures that the output of the comparator has good noise immunity. The output of the comparator at pins 4 and 1 is designed to have controlled thresholds, so that any voltage inputs of more than 3V will give an output of either 3V (pin 4) or 0V (pin h)
