LNK4014D-TL is a high performance monolithic offline switcher integrated circuit from Power Integrations. It is a member of Power Integrations’ family of high-performance, low-cost offline switched-mode power supplies (SMPS). The LNK4014D-TL is especially designed for high-performance applications such as AC-DC converter designs and other applications such as motor control, power conversion, cooling/heating solutions, and lighting.

AC-DC Converters are power supplies that convert Alternating Current (AC) input power to Direct Current (DC) output power. AC-DC converters are used in a wide range of applications that run on DC power, such as laptop computers, cellular phones, medical equipment, and microcontroller-based applications. Power Integrations’ LNK4014D-TL uses a flyback topology to provide a high-efficiency, low-cost solution for AC-DC converter designs.

The LNK4014D-TL comprises of a primary side controller, an integrated 600V MOS select switch and a high-voltage sensing circuit. Its primary side controller is powered from the flyback transformer’s primary winding, allowing the device to operate without an additional optocoupler stage. By utilizing Power Integrations’ primary side current-limiting circuit, the device is able to limit primary side current which minimizes switching losses and maximizes efficiency. The integrated 600V MOS select switch allows the device to operate at higher voltage levels while still providing a low cost solution.

The high-voltage sensing circuit of the LNK4014D-TL offers a wide range of flexible solutions for AC-DC converter designs. It supports multiple voltage levels and allows the device to adjust output power accordingly. The device can also be programmed to operate with Soft Start or Burst Mode control, which allows the device to start up with minimal current consumption. In addition, the device supports over-voltage protection, over-temperature protection, under-voltage protection, short-circuit protection, and over-current protection.
