PMIC - AC DC Converters, Offline Switchers
The LNK6765V is a high Integration, low component count AC/DC Converters, Offline Switchers with Universal input Isolation, enabling excellent frequency and output load transient response. It is designed for use in offline non-isolated flyback and buck LED driver applications. This device is designed for applications operating from 85V – 265V AC input voltage range and provides a programmable constant current output for driving multiple LED string. It employs valley-fill-turn-off and leading-edge modulation (LEM) topologies to provide continuous regulated output current. The device integrates 3 main components: a current sense resistor, a MOSFETs and a half-bridge gate drivers into a single 20 lead, 4mm by 6mm package. It includes a high voltage, low off-state drain-source voltage and high side gate driver switch to increase efficiency, minimize component count and improve thermal performance and small size of designs. This allows the choice of either single switch with simple paralleled control or half-bridge switch with double regulation for boosting efficiency. The LNK6765V operates over a wide temperature range from -50C to 120C junction temperature and is housed in a 7-pin,leadless surface mount package. The device is also available in extended temperature range from -40C to 125C, enabling design margin for above-ambient temperature consumer applications. This makes it ideal for high end consumer and industrial applications where cost and size considerations are important.The LNK6765V offers excellent protection features, including over voltage protection (OVP), under voltage lockout (UVLO), cycle-by-cycle current limiting (OCP), and output over-temperature protection (OTP). Additionally, the device features built in EMI filter and ripple rejection (EMI) noise reduction. The operation of the LNK6765V based on Hill-climbing principle of operation. This refers to the fact that the device starts up from Zero load condition at maximum frequency, when the load current increases, the frequency reduces proportionately, until the load current reaches its designed rated current. This happens with the help of primary side sensed zero-current-detection circuitry. The On-Time (tON) increases with increasing load current, till it reaches the steady state, where it remains same irrespective to the load condition.In order to build a standard design, the LNK6765V providers a number of variables to be tweaked for maximum performance such as feedback voltage, oscillator frequency, and main current limit. Feedback voltage (FB_VOLTAGE) is used to set the reporting voltage, the oscillator can be adjusted by setting the the frequency which ranges from 25KHz to 500KHz and the main current limit (ilim) is used to adjust the overcurrent protection level.The LNK6765V also features an active light load function, which helps in reducing the conduction loss at light loads. This is done by modulating the switching frequency as the load decreases. When the load current is less than the set reference threshold, the device modulates the switching frequency to reduce conduction loss, hence improving efficiency.In summary, the LNK6765V is an efficient, high integration, low component count AC/DC Converters, Offline Switchers. It is specifically designed for non-isolated LED driver applications with high-voltage and high-side-gate-driver switch, offering enhanced thermal performance with low component count.
