The LNK6764E is a 3-A, power factor correction (PFC) and step-down offline current-mode pulse-width modulation (PWM) controller with integrated high-side and low-side power MOSFETs. It is an integrated offline PFC and single-phase bridge converter with no-load power-saving mode. The LNK6764E can achieve high power factor, tight AC line regulation and fast load transient response by its high-resolution digital current calculation features. Moreover, the device can be configured for autotransformer or half-bridge topologies.
The LNK6764E is suitable for power supplies from high power LED lighting to small power (20 W) applications like adapters and lighting, such as LED bulbs, LED panel or wall lights. It provides a wide range of protection functions, such as input under-voltage locking, over-voltage and over-temperature protection, and an adjustable soft-start. The device is available in the 8-pin SOIC and the 8-pin thermally enhanced SOIC packages.

Working principle
The LNK6764E the working principle is based on a Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) scheme that generates an AC signal out into the load. This signal has a constant peak amplitude which results in a very accurate current and voltage control. Depending on the application, the PWM signal can be programmed to change its amplitude automatically in response to a change in input voltage, or remain constant and unaffected. The AC signal is then converted into a DC signal using a rectifier and then smoothed using an LC filter.
The LNK6764E also has an adjustable limit to the input voltage which helps to maximize the power efficiency and reliability of the system. This voltage limit is known as the Input OV Threshold and it helps protect the system against any overvoltage conditions.
