Aluminum electrolytic capacitors work using an electrolyte as an electrode. A basic aluminum electrolytic capacitor consists of an anode, a cathode, and a dielectric layer separating the two. A negative potential is applied to the cathode which attracts the positively charged ions from the electrolyte. These ions travel through the dielectric layer to the anode, where they combine with the negative ions from the electrolyte to form an electric field of opposite charges, creating an electrostatic field. This electrostatic field creates a barrier that prevents current flow between the electrolyte and anode.
LNT2G471MSECBN Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors are designed for use in applications demanding highest specifications. Constructed with double-layer metallized capacitors, it is capable of providing up to 4,700µF capacitance with a 25V DC rated voltage. It’s also able to dissipate a large amount of heat within the limited mounting space, which makes it ideal for switching power supplies, uninterruptible power supplies, voltage regulators and solar power systems.
LNT2G471MSECBN capacitors feature Internal Discharge Resistor, or IDR. This is designed to ensure safety operations by providing a low resistance path for discharging of the capacitor bank. IDR also helps decrease the risk of voltage spikes and helps to reduce the current inrush when capacitor banks are charged. Its internal design ensures reliable operation even in harsh environmental conditions. It is made using high grade aluminum and can operate in temperatures from -40°C to up to 85°C.
The working principle of LNT2G471MSECBN Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors is quite simple. An electrical current passes through a liquid electrolyte such as sulfuric acid between the two electrodes. The positive and negative charges of the electrolyte separate when the ac current flows, creating a static charge. This static charge accumulates in the electrolyte until the applied voltage reaches its maximum rated value. At this point, the electrolyte is partially discharged so that the capacitor can store energy in the form of an electric field.
