LP3986BL-2929 is a low power, 100mA low dropout (LDO) linear regulator which is suitable for varied applications. The device comes with typical dropout voltage of 200mV, just like the other linear voltage regulators. It is available in the industry standard 3-Lead SOT-89 Package and also in surface mount TSSOP-8 package.This linear voltage regulator provides very low output noise with short-circuit protection, Thermal protection and over-current protection against short-circuit conditions. The device also provides reverse battery protection and reverse current protection, which makes it very reliable and safe for the applications. It has an operating temperature range from -40°C to 125°C.
The LP3986BL-2929 linear voltage regulator provides an output voltage range from 1.2V to 5.0V. It provides high accuracy, fast transient response and good line regulation which makes it very suitable for different types of, voltage regulator applications. It also guarantees a low dropout voltage of 1.5V at IOUT=100mA.
The LP3986BL-2929 linear voltage regulator works on the standard linear voltage regulating technique. When the input voltage (Vin) is higher than the output voltage (Vout), the power transistor of this IC, brings down the input voltage to the required level of output voltage, by introducing a small voltage drop. This voltage drop across the power transistor would be in the range 1.0V to 2.5V, depending upon the load it is supplying and the input voltage applied.
