The LT1074 is a high power, current-mode switching regulator whose duty cycle is controlled by an internally oscillator operating frequency. The oscillator starts with an internally ramp generating a triangle wave. During the ramp, the output voltage is regulated, and when the ramp reaches a set point, the output is then turned off. During the off-time of the oscillator, the drivers are losing control of the output. This action is then repeated during the next cycle, at a frequency as determined by the frequency pins of the IC.
