The frequency response of the LT1222 ranges from 0 Hz to 30 MHz, with a gain-bandwidth of 10 MHz and a unity-gain bandwidth of 7 MHz. The low power supply current of the LT1222 is typically only 50 uA per amplifier. The LT1222 provides a low distortion, rail-to-rail output, with up to 0.3% total harmonic distortion, as well as a low quiescent current of only 11uV/V above unity gain.

The LT1222 is a four-stage, precision, current-feedback amplifier circuit. It uses a classic topology where a low power, noninverting current source amplifier is connected to the feedback resistor of an inverting gain stage, to the output buffer, and to the power supply. This creates a voltage follower with a low input impedance and a high output drive capability. The amplifier also has an internal gain compensation resistor to reduce the effects of temperature and supply variations.

The output of the LT1222 is buffered by an additional stage, which further reduces noise and distortion, as well as providing rail-to-rail output capability. This additional stage also improves the output drive capability, allowing the LT1222 to drive up to 1600pF capacitive loads. Finally, an internal clamp is provided to ensure operation within normal supply voltage levels.

In operation, the LT1222 requires a single supply voltage of 2.3 to 42V and a bias current of at least 10 uA. All connections must be made in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications and in particular, the power supply must be well-filtered and have good grounding. The amplifier is easily connected using single-ended inputs and outputs, and can be operated at frequencies up to 30MHz.
