The LT1610IS8#PBF is a step-down, buck regulator with high switching frequency, aiming to provide solutions for improving size and efficiency of a wide range of power supply applications. As a part of the DC/DC Switching Regulators of Power Management Integrated Circuits (PMIC), it integrates 16V internal switches and requires very small external components. It features high switching frequency which minimizes solutions size and its 300kHz default operation frequency can be increased or decreased to reduce or increase device stress.
With low quiescent current and 5.5V to 26V input voltage range, the LT1610IS8#PBF ensures ample headroom for noisy un-regulated supplies and advanced input protection at the cost of very small power loss. Its wide input voltage range makes it suitable for power supplies with input voltage variation of up to 21V and the quiescent current make it perfect for battery driven applications.
The LT1610IS8#PBF is capable of providing up to 3A of output current and provides instantaneous load current where the fast transient response allows minimal output ripple. Its high dynamic response and accuracy also contribute to the fast loop stabilize time. To minimize tail current short condition, its phase-shedding circuit reduces the peak inductor current and turns on and off the switch at appropriate times. It also includes a unique short protection circuit that limits the peak on time for the switch and enables safe testing of the overload protection process.
The LT1610IS8#PBF support various feature packages, such as the Soft-Start feature that improves the transient response and reduces the output ripple. It also features internal current limit and current mode control that enhances the converters speed and accuracy. Furthermore, it also supports adjustable frequency operation where the switching frequency can be adjusted via external resistor (250kHz to 1.2MHz). It also supports Auto-TrackTM which is a voltage tracking function which allows the LT1610IS8#PBF to start up and track an externally applied voltage up to 6V.
