The principle of its working is to compare the output of a reference voltage ( Vref ) with an input voltage ( Vin ). If Vref is higher than Vin, it will output the high logic state and likewise, if Vin is higher than Vref, it will output the low logic state. This kind of application makes it suitable to use in many digital logic applications.LT1716CS5#TRPBF provides high input impedance and high open- loop gain even in single supply applications. It features wide input voltage range (2V - 12V), low offset voltage, low output saturation voltage and wide temperature range (-40°C - 85°C). Moreover, its bandwidth is typically more than 10MHz, which makes it more suitable for high-speed applications.This device is mainly used in systems related to the industry, automobile and military which need low-noise and precision circuitry. On top of that, it is also used in data acquisition systems, audio engineering and instrumentation. It also finds its applications in industrial control systems such as temperature control, motor control, flow control, and pump control.Integrating LT1716CS5#TRPBF into a system is easy and convenient as it requires only two pins; one for the input voltage vin and another one for the reference voltage vref. All is needed to complete the circuit is an external voltage source to provide the reference voltage and an external load which will be connected to the output of the comparator.The basic operation of LT1716CS5#TRPBF can be explained by two possible states it can enter:1. In the idle state, the output is a high impedance as the circuit has no external source voltages connected.2. In the active state, the input voltage vin is connected and the output voltage is either low or high which depends on the comparison between vin and vref. If vin is higher than vref, the output is in low state and vice versa. Therefore, the device converts an input voltage into a corresponding high or low state, making it very suitable for digital applications.The LT1716CS5#TRPBF can also be used as a voltage to frequency converter. This is done by applying the input voltage (vin) to the reference voltage (vref) with a capacitor.
