Working PrincipleThe LT3013MPFE#TRPBF works by combining an on-chip error amplifier, a high-current PMOS pass transistor and other internal circuitry in a three-terminal, low dropout configuration. The error amplifier compares the output voltage with a reference voltage (typically 1.25 V). The output voltage is adjusted to maintain the desired value. If the output voltage drops due to a heavy load, the error amplifier outputs a higher voltage to the PMOS pass transistor, increasing the current through it. The opposite happens if the output voltage rises due to a light load, where the error amplifier outputs a lower voltage, thus reducing the current through the PMOS pass transistor to adjust the output voltage to the desired value. The LT3013MPFE#TRPBF also offers load line compensation, which keeps the output voltage within the desired range even when the load current changes rapidly.
