Working Principle

The LT3015EDD-15#PBF possesses an internal error amplifier. This amplifier is designed to achieve a 0.1V output voltage, that is adjustable higher or lower by applying an external reference voltage. The external reference voltage sets the voltage at the output of the error amplifier and this voltage then passes the voltage on to the output stage. The internal feedback loop amplifies the output voltage and the resistance of the internal elements determines the output current.

The internal NPN pass device is used to regulate the current between the output voltage and the error amplifier. This pass device is fabricated with a small ground voltage and works with the output stage to set the output voltage. The output resistance of the pass device is kept at a low level to ensure a high level of rapid current change.
