Working Principle
The LT3511EMS#TRPBF circuit includes two synchronous switching regulators referred to as the buck and the boost stage. Both stages are implemented in a single PowerSoC™ package with two switches, two rectification circuits, two voltage followers (VF) and two compensation networks. The LT3511EMS#TRPBF is programmed to operate in three different input/output configurations. These include: Input+ Buck, Input- Buck and Boost. The buck regulator is dedicated to provide a precise regulated output voltage from a wide range of input voltage sources while the boost stage senses any excess input voltage, turning it into a feedback to control the buck stage.
The LT3511EMS#TRPBF features an analog compensation network for complete control loop optimization, as well as digital control for precise loop control and protection. The analog compensation network allows for fast transient response, a low output ripple, wide bandwidth, and easy compensation over a large range of clock frequencies. The digital control allows for precise loop control that limits the in-rush current, and prevents over temperature shutdown and over current protection signals.
The LT3511EMS#TRPBF enables Dual-Phase, 2-Level synchronous Down-Step topologies and require fewer external components than traditional synchronous regulators, reducing board space and EMI propensity. This device is also equipped with a high-performance, low noise 2-phase circuit, which provides up to 5A of continuous output current per channel.
