LT3663EMS8E-3.3#TRPBF is a non-synchronous buck regulator IC with efficient current-mode control circuit. It operates over an input voltage range of 2.8V to 18V and provides an adjustable output voltage range of 0.449V to 16.5V. With a wide input voltage range, it is designed to deliver up to 1.25A of continuous output current. The device also offers an ultra-fast transient response and cycle-by-cycle current limit.

This IC is suitable for a wide range of applications including DC/DC power supplies for MP3 players, digital still cameras, PDAs and other hand-held devices. The LT3663EMS8E-3.3#TRPBF integrates an external N-Channel MOSFET and a high-side PMOS transistor for switching, along with an internal voltage reference, leading to reduced external components and occupied board area. Working Principle of LT3663EMS8E-3.3#TRPBF

The LT3663EMS8E-3.3#TRPBF integrates an N-channel MOSFET and a PMOS transistor for switching and has an input voltage range of 2.8V to 18V. It offers an adjustable output voltage range of 0.449V to 16.5V. The LT3663EMS8E-3.3#TRPBF operates in two phases i.e. first it turns on the N-channel MOSFET to convert the input voltage and secondly it turns on the PMOS transistor to regulate the output voltage.

The device has a current-mode control and operates with a variable frequency using an internal voltage reference. When the inductor current reaches the current limit threshold, the device enters into the over current protection mode. This reduces the duty cycle and brings down the output voltage with a low ripple.

The frequency of the device is determined by an external resistor and the internal frequency foldback is used to reduce the switching frequency during overload conditions. The current-mode control and an internal compensation network enable fast transient response and excellent regulation characteristics. There is a programmable soft start and an enable pin in the device for enable/disable control.
