It features synchronous rectification and effective control circuitry, and works according to hysteretic control principles.At the heart of the LT3640EUFD#PBF is an internal power switch which is driven by an oscillator and is turned on/off in order to regulate the output voltage. The output voltage is monitored by a voltage feedback network which signals the oscillator to turn on/off the switch. An on-chip current sensing circuit measures the output current and allows the switch to be operated in dropout.The synchronous rectification circuitry employs two MOSFETs which are switching oppositely in order to reduce losses and improve efficiency. In addition, this device also has an on-chip soft-start circuit which reduces in-rush current at startup.The LT3640EUFD#PBF device is suitable for high current applications and can deliver up to 95% efficiency with its spread cycle technology. It features an industry-standard footprint, low noise, good transient performance and high precision output voltage regulation.
