Working Principle
The LT3689EUD#PBF uses pulse width modulation (PWM) to rapidly switch the output to provide the required output voltage. When the voltage deviation is higher than the set threshold, the PWM duty cycle will be increased to make the output voltage lower. Conversely, when the voltage deviation is below the set threshold, the PWM duty cycle will be reduced to make the output voltage higher.
The LT3689EUD#PBF also features an adjustable current limit, which is used to protect the system from overcurrent events. When the output current reaches the preset current limit, the device will reduce its switching frequency to limit the output current.
In addition to these features, the device also includes an adjustable soft-start feature, which can be used to gradually increase the output voltage in order to reduce stress on the system during turn-on events. It also includes a built-in thermal shutdown circuit, which is used to protect the device from high temperature events.
