The LT3692IUH#TRPBF is a high frequency synchronous step-down switching regulator with integrated high-side and low- side power MOSFETs. These ICs are designed to drive up to 2 A of output current from a 4.5 to 18 V input, and provides up to 97% conversion efficiency. With a switching frequency up to 3 MHz, the LT3692IUH#TRPBF operates in either continuous current mode (CCM) or discontinuous current mode (DCM) depending on the output current and inductor value. The device operates at a constant frequency, with an internal slope compensation that maintains proper loop operation over a wide range of load, input voltage, and temperature conditions. It has internal softstart that limits the inrush current when the device is turned on, as well as internal overcurrent protection.

The LT3692IUH#TRPBF applications range from post-regulation of buck converters, to powering high-end FPGAs and DSPs, to powering LEDs and supplying general purpose power for low noise, low voltage applications. It is ideal for powering 12 V applications from 3.3 V, 5 V, and 8 V battery supplies. The LT3692IUH#TRPBF is offered in a 6 mm × 6 mm QFN package with exposed pad for heat sinking and a 6-pin thin SOT-23 package.

The working principle of the LT3692IUH#TRPBF is similar to most synchronous buck switching voltage regulators. An externally supplied voltage is supplied to an input of the device through an input capacitor. The inductor, output capacitor, and load are connected to the switching regulator output. The LT3692IUH#TRPBF has an internal power switch that operates at a constant frequency, and is digitally controlled by an internal pulse width modulation (PWM) controller.
