It is able to produce extremely sophisticated power conversion design applications with its innovative circuit design, providing a lot of flexibility and efficiency. The LT3990EDD#PBF integrates a high voltage MOSFET ideal diode, boost switch, P-channel and N-channel MOSFETS which help to provide a constant Off Time Current Mode control system which supports the conversion of step-up, step-down, or inverting voltage conditions to any circuit with a wide range of available power.

Working Principle:
The LT3990EDD#PBF is based around Constant Off Time,Current Mode Control System also known as COTCMS. The system enables an extremely accurate regulation of the output voltage independent of the input and output voltages making the device capable of driving LEDs with linear current regulation. The system relies on the presence of two internal FETs; one being a high voltage N-channel MOSFET configured as a buck switch and the other configured as a P-channel MOSFET ideal diode. The ideal diode supports the operating voltage of the buck & boost switching regulator system by providing virtually zero voltage drop allowing the MOSFET to switch with a high efficiency.
The LT3990EDD#PBF limits the current into the external load based on an internal regulated current sense resistor. The device utilizes a voltage loop feedback with an adjustable voltage reference.
