PMIC - Voltage Reference
The LT6656BCDC-2.5#TRPBF is a PolyPhase® synchronous buck regulator with integrated voltage reference that belongs to the application field of PMIC - Voltage Reference. It is a highly efficient, low output ripple/noise and high power density four phase controller that is suitable for a wide range of power-supply applications. It includes an integrated voltage reference, a built in current limit and a Power-Good indicator. The LT6656BCDC-2.5#TRPBF is capable of providing precise regulation and excellent EMI performance.
The LT6656BCDC-2.5#TRPBF is optimized for very low component count designs for medium power, very low output ripple/noise, and high power density applications. It integrates a 400mV voltage reference and all the circuitry required to generate phase-shifted waveforms for operation of four N-channel MOSFETs in a polyphase configuration. This allows efficient power delivery to the point-of-load while maintaining excellent output regulation, such as load regulation, cross regulation and voltage line regulation.
The LT6656BCDC-2.5#TRPBF features advanced polyphase PLL-based design in single chip solution that eliminates timing errors and transistor mismatches due to use of two independent phase clocks at each phase leg. The design supports input voltage range from 4V up to 16V, capable of delivering output voltages from 0.6V up to 5V at output currents up to 12A with high power density of up to 200SIP. The efficiency is up to 95%, and output voltage accuracy is typically 0.5% over line and load conditions.
The working principle and operation of the LT6656BCDC-2.5#TRPBF are based on the Fixed Frequency Current Mode (FFCM) controller. The FFCM topology uses a three-level MOSFET controller to regulate the output voltage. This controller architecture allows the LT6656BCDC-2.5#TRPBF to offer both variable and fixed frequency operation. The variable frequency mode uses an internal voltage reference and current-compensated slope compensation to regulate the output voltage to the desired level.
