The LT8301IS5#TRPBF is a high power, integrated dc-dc synchronous-rectification step-down switching regulator for applications requiring up to 2.5A of output current and a wide input supply range of 2.3V to 5.5V. LT8301IS5#TRPBF integrates a Wide-Voltage PWM Controller, a Dual Synchronous-Rectified Buck Regulators, an over-current and thermal protection circuit, a clock oscillator and an soft-start circuit. It supports adjustable output voltage with a high power density, also provides a quieter operation than standard buck regulators. In addition, over-current protection, over-temperature protection and under-voltage lockout features are also included.
Application Field
This LT8301IS5#TRPBF is a highly-integrated, synchronous-rectified buck switching regulator specifically designed for power saving applications. Working Principle
The LT8301IS5#TRPBF consists of a wide-voltage PWM controller, dual synchronous-rectified buck regulators, an over-current and thermal protection circuit, an integrated clock oscillator, an under-voltage lockout circuit, and an adjustable current limited soft-start. The PWM controller generates pulse width frequency and phase signals that are sent to the synchronous buck regulator, which adjusts the output voltage to the requested setpoint through synchronous rectification. The output voltage is sensed by two divider resistors and then sent to a comparator in the PWM controller. The PWM controller adjusts the duty cycle of the PWM to regulate the output voltage. If a load over-current occurs, the over-current protection (OCP) circuit immediately shuts down the regulator. Also, the thermal protection circuit shuts down OCP when the internal die temperature gets too high. Finally, the soft-start circuit prevents over-current when the device is initially powered up.
