LTC1148HVCS-5#TRPBF is an advanced DC-DC switching controller, specifically designed by Linear Technology Corporation to offer improved performance and stability when compared to other voltage regulators from the same class. The device is a precision control switch, combining a low-voltage, low-power CMOS switch with a low impedance, shunt-type error amplifier for a tailored, accurate and stable output voltage. The device incorporates a CMOS switch with an adjustable oscillator frequency and pulse-width control, providing smooth, rapid and highly accurate transient response while reducing the complexity of the overall design. It also offers a wide output voltage range accuracy of ±1% with tight loop control and its low quiescent current of 18 µA at 12 V IN makes it an ideal choice for battery powered applications. The device includes a power-good monitoring circuitry that can be configured as a voltage detector, current limit or an over-temperature delay. The protection functions include short-circuit, under-voltage and thermal shutdown. The device is designed to be used in a variety of applications, including battery charging circuits, power draining circuits, adjustable output voltage DC-DCs and DC motor control systems. In such applications, the device provides low-noise switching and commendable transient response. The device is highly reliable as it features high voltage breakage immunity, providing protection from the high voltage transients which are frequently seen in this type of applications. The device works in two operating modes, a current-mode control for constant frequency and reliable operation, and a pulse-by-pulse current limit for improved line- and load-transient response. The device can also be used in off-line applications, such as primary and secondary mobile phone chargers, AC/DC power supplies and adapters, external power supplies and DC-DC converters. It is available in PSOP package and requires only three small external components, making it a cost-effective solution for many switched-mode power supply designs. In conclusion, the LTC1148HVCS-5#TRPBF provides improved performance, stability and reliability when compared to other voltage regulators from the same class.
