The LTC2508IDKD-32#TRPBF is a Specifically designed, high-accuracy, 16-bit successive approximation register (SAR) ADC. It is a small, single-channel, asynchronous SAR-based Analog-to-Digital (A/D) converter for low power, highly integrated systems. The ADC uses oversampling and Noise Shaping (OSR) to deliver a wide range of signed 16-bit output codes from a single 0.75V-to-1.25V differential input. It features low aggregate power consumption, fast throughput, and tiny 10-pin MSOP/QFN packages. It’s a successive-approximation ADC, which means that it compares the input signal to a reference and generates a digital code based on the comparison. Every conversion consists of a series of steps. Depending on the result of the comparison, the code is either increased or decreased until it matches the input signal. When the reference voltage and the input signal are equal, the code is changed to the original input signal’s binary representation. The last step is to hold the output while the input signal is not being changed.The LTC2508IDKD-32#TRPBF integrates an on-chip oscillator, an analog multiplexer, and a low latency serial interface.The built-in oscillator (OSC) provides the timing for the SAR’s successive approximation cycle and it also provides the sample-and-hold (SAR) clock sync pulse. The OSC is enabled using the SYSCLK pin and the frequency is set using the OSCSEL bits.The multiplexer selects the input signal from the analog input pins INP and INM. The multiplexer allows the use of either single-ended or differential input signals.The low latency serial interface transfers the conversion result from the SAR. The serial interface supports both SPI and I2C protocols.
