The LTC3370HUH#TRPBF is a versatile, high-efficiency step-down switching regulator. It provides up to 10A output current at a programmable output voltage as low as 0.6V and up to 95% efficiency. It is ideal for powering general purpose applications requiring a regulated DC rail with a wide input voltage range of 3.1V to 20V. The LTC3370HUH#TRPBF can be used in many DC-DC power conversion applications, such as tablet, battery, notebook and automotive.[1]

The device features two operating modes, Constant On-Time (COT) and Burst Mode® operation (BM). In COT mode, the switching frequency is set by the external current-sense resistor and the peak current is set by the configure parameters. In BM mode, the operating frequency is zero when input voltage is below 1.2V. When the input voltage is above 1.2V, the oscillator turns on and the device operates in COT mode. This provides maximum efficiency over a wide input voltage range.[2]

The LTC3370HUH#TRPBF integrates all the control, drive and protection circuits, including an oscillator, a current sense amplifier, a logic control, a P-Channel MOSFET and an N-Channel MOSFET, into a single package. The device also has an integrated bootstrap diode, soft-start circuitry, over-temperature protection and short-circuit protection. The output voltage can be set either by a voltage-setting feedback resistor or by a PMBus input. The LTC3370HUH#TRPBF is available in a space-saving, thermally-enhanced 14-pin ThinSOT package.

In addition to its numerous features, the LTC3370HUH#TRPBF provides excellent performance when operated as a step-down switching regulator. The device features a wide input voltage range with a relatively low dropout voltage, and a high output current capability of up to 10A. The device also features a wide switching frequency range of 200kHz to 2MHz and a low quiescent current of only 50uA. Furthermore, the device can provide up to 95% efficiency and a very low output noise.
