The LTC3810EUH-5#PBF is an integrated non-synchronous buck–boost switching regulator IC with integrated power MOSFETs. This device is specifically designed to enable high frequency DC–DC conversion of an input voltage that can exceed, be equal to, or be less than the output voltage. A regulation range of up to 15V from 1V outputs is possible, with up to 0.85A continuous output current. The device also provides adjustable soft−start, high frequency operation and a very low shutdown current.

The LTC3810EUH-5#PBF can be used in many applications where a regulated DC output voltage is needed, such as distributed power systems, portable electronic devices, telecom and datacom systems, network servers, automotive equipment, and battery powered systems.

The device is also ideal for applications where space is at a premium, as well as any system that is powered from input sources with widely varying voltages.

In addition, the LTC3810EUH-5#PBF is well suited for applications where different regulated voltages are required in order to power multiple subsystems. It is also useful in switch mode power supply (SMPS) applications where efficiency is high and output power is relatively low.

Working Principle

The LTC3810EUH-5#PBF works by adjusting its output voltage inversely to its input voltage. If the input voltage is lower than the set output voltage, the device boosts the voltage to maintain the set voltage. If the input voltage is higher than the output voltage, the device buck\'s the voltage down.

The device has an internal power MOSFET in a buck−boost configuration, with a body diode in the boosted direction to help reduce reverse current flow.

The LTC3810EUH-5#PBF also provides a Soft−Start pin, whose output is connected to the power MOSFET gate. The Soft−Start pin is used to control the gate voltage so the device can start up with a low input voltage and ramp up slowly.

The LTC3810EUH-5#PBF also has a programmable operating frequency, which allows the user to set the frequency of operation and optimize the efficiency of the switching regulator.

The device also has a shutdown pin, which can be used to turn the device off when it is not needed. The shutdown pin also allows the user to reduce the current consumption to an extremely low level.
