The LTC3541EDD-1#PBF is a low-noise, high efficiency, dual-mode synchronous boost regulator with wide input voltage range. It integrates a low-noise dual-mode inductor-based DC-DC stage with a wide-operating-range linear regulator, requiring only two external components—an inductor and a single-mode-capacitor. This new regulator operates in either linear or 2-mode boost mode, allowing a low quiescent current of only 20µA in linear mode and 500µA in boost mode for low power applications. It features an internal voltage reference and adjustable current limit for each of the outputs, allowing for very efficient operation over a wide range of output voltages and currents.

Working Principle of the LTC3541EDD-1#PBF

The LTC3541EDD-1#PBF dual-mode synchronous boost regulator uses a constant-on-time Charge Pump-based control architecture to optimize efficiency and transient performance. In its standard operating mode, the device actively regulates the output voltage. When the input voltage is low, the LTC3541EDD-1#PBF seamlessly transitions to 2-mode boost operation to provide maximum efficiency across the entire input voltage range.For low-noise applications, the linear regulator is optimized to provide a low-noise, low-ripple output voltage with no additional external components. The linear regulator has adjustable output voltage, current limit and inrush current limiting. An internal 5-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) is used to set the output voltage. The current limit is set by external resistors and is adjustable from 1A to 3A. The device has a built-in soft-start feature that can be used to reduce any inrush current at start up.
