Today, Li-ion batteries are widely used in consumer products like laptops and mobile phones. Li-ion batteries require proper charging control to ensure their safety and performance. The LTC4061EDD#PBF is a monolithic, high-efficiency, and low-noise step-up DC/DC with integrated charger and USB current limitation. Designed for single-cell Li-ion/polymer battery charging, the LTC4061EDD#PBF combines a 500mA high-efficiency, low-ripple synchronous step-up DC/DC switching regulator and a 2A, low-noise Li-Ion linear charger. The high system efficiency and optimization for low component count make the LTC4061EDD#PBF an ideal choice for \'always on\' systems, such as cell phones, MP3 players and other mobile applications.
The LTC4061EDD#PBF is an integrated single-cell Li-Ion/polymer battery charge controller with a full-featured 500mA high-efficiency step-up DC/DC converter and a 2A low-noise linear charger. It offers independent float voltage and charge current programs. The float voltage is factory-set to 4.1V and is adjustable down to 4.0V with an optional resistor to accommodate various battery types. The charge current and float voltage can be monitored through the ISP communications port with a battery management system or a microcontroller.
The LTC4061EDD#PBF provides up to 500mA of output current from an input voltage range of 1.8V to 6V. It also offers a low signal ripple of less than 190mV, an 95% high efficiency, and a low quiescent current of less than 30µA—allowing for a long battery operating time with minimal self-discharge. The high capacitor ratio architecture enables wide input and output voltage ranges with up to 10:1 input to output voltage ratio, making it suitable for high-voltage, high-power applications.
