The LTC4309CDE#TRPBF is a high performance buffering/repeating multiplexer whose application field and working principle can be applied to interface signal buffers, repeaters, splitters. It is characterized by an ultra low power consumption, high speed, wide input range, high CMRR, low latency, and low EMI. This makes it ideal for low-voltage, high-speed, low-power, low-latency, low-EMI applications.
The multiplexer is designed to provide a buffering or repeating function to multiplexed signals. It is capable of buffering/repeating high speed and wide range (1 to 10GHz) signals while maintaining exceptionally low power dissipation. The ultra low power consumption (1.2mW typical) makes the LTC4309CDE#TRPBF ideal for use in portable, battery-powered systems. In addition, the high CMRR (greater or equal to 66dB) improves signal integrity and reduces RF losses. As a result, the LTC4309CDE#TRPBF is an excellent alternative to traditional schemes which require many switching components to achieve a similar goal.
The LTC4309CDE#TRPBF is operated with a single input signal, which it then splits into two output signals (buffered or repeated) based on the user specified setting. It supports a wide range of input voltage from 0.8V to 3.3V and can be configured for either slow (300KHz to 1MHz) or fast (500MHz to 10GHz) buffering/repeating operations. This allows for flexibility in the design of different applications. Additionally, the device also features an external shut down pin which allows for power savings when the device is not in use.
The LTC4309CDE#TRPBF has two output ports (A and B) and both can be used to transmit the input signal. In order to achieve maximum signal integrity and lowest loss possible, two transmission techniques are supported: the paired-pair transmission mode or the single-pair transmission mode. The first transmission mode is used in order to establish an effective bandwidth up to 10GHz and is the recommended option when the signal speed is greater than 500MHz. Otherwise, the second transmission mode is used for signal speeds below 500MHz and provides a lower insertion loss.
At the same time, the device also features a wide input common mode range (CMR) of 0.8V to 3.3V. This further improves signal integrity and reduces RF loss. In order to reduce cross-talk between the output signals, the device also has an integrated matched impedance feature that automatically adapts transmission impedance to match the input signal. This ensures the signal integrity between the two output ports is preserved even when the input signal changes.
In addition, the device also features latency control which allows the user to set the device easily to achieve the desired signal delay. This is useful in applications where reducing the latency between two interacting signals is essential. Finally, the device also features a low EMI, making it a suitable option for signal buffering/repeating applications which require low-EMI operation.
The LTC4309CDE#TRPBF is an excellent solution for buffering/repeating multiplexed signals while maintaining high signal integrity and low-power dissipation.
