The LTM4620IV#PBF is a DC-DC converter which derives its power from a bidirectional DC source. It is a point-of-load (POL) power module that offers 84 to 95% efficiency and features up to 60 A output current with a wide range of input voltage from 2.375 V to 12 V. LTM4620IV#PBF is designed to drive multiple FET devices at high efficiency in a variety of automotive and other power supply applications. It is ideal for applications such as powertrain propulsion, transmission, exhaust actuators, electric windows, sunroofs, and lighting systems.

The LTM4620IV#PBF has a versatile bidirectional DC input operating from a wide voltage range from 2.375 V to 12 V over rated input voltage and up to 18 V over-voltage protection (OVP). The full current rated switch current is up to 60 A and power up to 892 W. The device also has a built-in current sharing capability of up to 3 ICs.

The adjustable switching frequency of the LTM4620IV#PBF can be set to a fixed switching frequency range from 200 kHz to 500 kHz. A remote on/off pin allows the user to turn the device on/off via external signal. An open drain fault protection pin is provided to alert the system of a device fault.The device also includes internal protection functions such as under voltage lockout (UVLO), over temperature protection (OTP), and short circuit protection (SCP).

The LTM4620IV#PBF can operate in Buck, Boost, Buck/Boost, and other topologies, such as SEPIC (single ended primary inductor converter) and CUK (constant-voltage, constant-current buck/boost converter). All parts are RoHS compliant and halogen free.

The design of the LTM4620IV#PBF is based on the switching of two high-side N-Channel and two low-side P-Channel MOSFETs. The device draws current from the input source for the main switch and gate drive, and regulates the output voltage by variably switching the two transistors using pulse width modulation (PWM). This creates a rectangular pulse train at the output, which is then filtered to obtain the output voltage.
